All American Indian moccasins were originally made of soft leather stitched together with sinew. The basic construction was similar throughout North America but patterns were different in nearly every tribe, and different designs would designate tribal affiliation. Tribal differences include the cut of the moccasins, beadwork, quillwork, and painted designs.
