P. - Description: The Shalako is a winter ceremony held to pray for rain, good health of the people and for the propagation of plants and animals. The Shalako Kachinas are the Giant Couriers of the Rainmakers. They have no arms and the masks of these ten-foot figures are carried on poles by their impersonators. This Kachina measures 11" tall. It is beautifully hand painted, accentuating the details of the ceremony. It is securely attached to the base with wooden pegs, making it extremely sturdy. This Native American creation comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
