K702 - Hopi Antelope Kachina (Katsina) - Artist: E. Adams - Description: This Kachina is a contemporary design uniquely displayed by each Native American Artist. This handcrafted artwork is an authentic replica carved entirely from a single piece of wood. Their personal attention to detail is astounding. The Antelope Kachina is danced as a prayer for the increase of his kind. When he appears, whether in the kiva or as a group in the plaza, it is in the hope that more of his kind will be around for harvesting by the Hopis. The Hopis may offer him cornmeal and prayer feathers. This Kachina is intricately hand carved, replicating the authentic Hopi style. The antlers and feathers on both the top and lower part of the mask are exquisitely detailed. He is shown holding a rattle significant of the dance. This unique Kachina measures 12' tall x 31/2" wide x 4" deep. It is securely attached to the base with wooden pegs, making it extremely sturdy. This Native American creation comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
