Adams - Description: This exquisite carving is a contemporary design of the Broad Face Guard, or “Wuyak-kuita” Kachina, uniquely displayed by this Native American Artist. This magnificent, handcrafted artwork is an authentic replica carved entirely from a single piece of wood. This Kachina is created with outstanding creativity and the personal attention to detail is astounding. The Guard Kachina is seen in every ceremony and is there to prevent any transgression on the path of the other Kachinas. He carries yucca whips, which are indicative of their roles as warriors and protectors. The mask and headdress of this Kachina is exquisitely detailed with eagle feathers radiating the top of the head. The mask is authentically hand painted reflecting the detail of the native design. The back of the head is also covered with beautifully carved eagle feathers. This Kachina is clothed in an impressive buckskin colored skirt and holding yucca whips in each hand. This unique carving measures 12” tall x 4 1/2” wide x 5” deep. This impressive Kachina is securely attached to the base with wooden pegs, making it extremely sturdy.
