K800 - Hopi Shalako Four-Headed Katsina - Artist: Edwin Choyou Jr. - Description: This exquisitely carved Long Hair Shalako Kachina has four heads, which are free formed from a single piece of wood. Each head is hand carved and painted with extensive detail of the green half mask with feather beard and rectangular panels of all colors against the long black hair. One head wears the red beard while the other three have black beards. The one head symbolizes a maiden, with the other symbolizing a warrior. Their purpose is dancing to bring rain for the crops. The lower painting symbolizes a good harvest of corn. This Kachina measures 15” tall x 7” wide x 5” depth. It is securely attached to the base with wooden pegs, making it extremely sturdy. This Native American creation comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
