S339 - Alabaster Buffalo Sculpture - Artist: Ben Livingston; 112 480 - Description: This is a beautifully hand carved 4 dimensional buffalo head, bear head, eagle head, and Native American chief sculpture. Ben Livingston carves out of one piece of Alabaster rock. The detailed work on this carving is so realistic. The buffalo head is looking towards the sky and has Black-as-Midnight Jet horns, Hachita Turquoise eyes. What is neat about him is that his tongue is sticking out and is made out of Red Jasper. There are also 6 black and yellow feathers, as well as 6 red and turquoise beads. To the right of the buffalo is a bear head. The bear has dots of Hachita Turquoise for eyes and also has his Red Jasper tongue sticking out. He is also showing his teeth as if to be growling. On his back are two large feathers, which are etched into the Alabaster.
Underneath the buffalo and bear head is a simple lance. The shaft of the lance is made out of Hachita Turquoise, Ajax Turquoise, Red Jasper, Black-as-Midnight Jet, and animal bone. The arrowhead is Black-as-Midnight Jet and there are two Kingman Turquoise feathers. If you turn this piece to the left, there is the back of the eagle and a Kachina design. The inlaid Kachina design is made out of Red Jasper, Black-as-Midnight Jet, Royston Turquoise, Hachita Turquoise, and animal bone. There are also five Hachita Turquoise feathers coming out of his head. If you turn it to the left again, there is an intricate eagle head and the face of a Native American chief. Both heads have dots of Hachita Turquoise for eyes. On the back of the eagle are four feathers, and 6 Red Jasper and Turquoise beads. The chief's headdress has 7 feathers. Below the head is an inlaid heart line. Heart lines are carved to represent the path of breath to the magical power. The heart line is made up of Red Jasper, Jet, Hachita Turquoise, and animal bone. Next to the heart line are two inlaid bear paw prints. The prints are inlaid with Red Jasper, Black-as-Midnight Jet, Hachita Turquoise, Royston Turquoise, and animal bone. The claws are also made out of Red Jasper. The carefully engraved details in this piece are amazing! This sculpture measures 10" high, 7" wide, and has a depth of 2". The lance measures 4" long, the Kachina design measures 7" long, the heart line measures 5" long and the paw prints measure 3" long. This Native American creation comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
