SA1 - Scrimshaw Buffalo Napkin Ring - Artist: R.J.B. - Description: This is NOT Native American but is done in the Native Spirit. Scrimshaw is one of the oldest American crafts which originated with the Native Americans along the Northwest Coast of North America, and was eventually adopted by whalers of the early 1800’s. This Scrimshaw art is hand-etched on shed antlers. The designs are hand-etched into the antler surface with a sharp tool then ink is rubbed into the scratches. The measurements are 2” wide by 1 1/2” high.
